19. Pressed Fern Shadow Boxes
Shadow boxes offer depth and dimension that traditional flat prints cannot match. Utilizing real pressed fern fronds inside deep glass shadow boxes yields refined, botanical artwork that brings the tranquil feel of a woodland forest into home offices, bathrooms, or reading corners.
Collect vibrant green fern fronds from a local nursery or garden. Flatten and preserve the foliage completely inside a heavy plant press for roughly two weeks until all moisture has been drawn out while maintaining bright color saturation. Apply tiny drops of clear craft glue along the central spine of the fern frond, then secure it onto a piece of textured linen watercolor paper cut to size. Place the paper inside a deep wood-framed shadow box, creating space between the glass and the botanical specimen. Mount the finished pieces in pairs or trios for a crisp, nature-centered wall presentation.
