12. Vintage Luggage Side Table

12

Standard side tables often lack character and fail to provide functional storage. Repurposing stackable vintage suitcases, trunks, or train cases into an eclectic side table blends nostalgic charm, rich leather and brass textures, and clever hidden storage for extra blankets, seasonal decor, or books.

Scour thrift stores or flea markets for two or three hard-shell vintage suitcases with complementary colors, unique hardware, and sturdy flat sides. Clean the exterior surfaces with appropriate leather conditioner or metal polish. Stack the suitcases vertically beside a chair or bed, placing the largest suitcase on the bottom to ensure stability. Secure them together using heavy-duty industrial velcro dots applied between the contacting luggage surfaces to prevent shifting. This movable, functional decor piece adds instant historic charm and practical utility to reading nooks or guest bedrooms.
