14. Sliced Branch Wood Coasters and Trivets
Bringing natural timber elements into modern interiors helps balance harsh clean lines and synthetic materials. Sliced wooden branch trivets and coasters showcase natural bark details, organic growth rings, and warm timber tones, protecting your furniture while adding rustic texture to your coffee or dining setup.
Find a fallen tree branch or small log with a diameter between three to six inches and ensure the wood is thoroughly dry. Using a miter saw or sharp hand saw, slice the branch into flat cross-section disks approximately half an inch thick. Sand both flat sides of each disk until smooth to touch, taking care to keep the outer perimeter bark intact. Coat the wood slices with food-safe mineral oil or a durable clear polyurethane sealer to protect against water rings and heat damage. Attach small cork disks to the bottom of each piece to ensure non-slip, scratch-free functionality.
