2. Paper Plate Spider Webs
This delightful craft combines fine motor skill development with spooky holiday fun. Paper plate spider webs allow children to practice their weaving techniques, creating intricate and unique patterns that mimic real spider webs. It is a fantastic, low-mess activity that uses simple materials you likely already have in your pantry and craft drawers.
Start by taking a sturdy paper plate and cutting out the center circle, leaving just the outer rim. Using a hole punch, make holes spaced about an inch apart all the way around the inner edge of the rim. Cut a long piece of black, white, or neon orange yarn, and tie one end through one of the holes. Have your child thread the yarn across the plate from hole to hole, creating a beautiful, crisscrossed web pattern. Once they are satisfied with their web, tie off the end of the yarn and glue a couple of plastic spiders or DIY paper spiders onto the web to complete the spooky look.
