1. Mason Jar Mummy Lanterns

1
Transform ordinary household glass jars into glowing, spooky mummy lanterns that are perfect for lighting up a dark autumn night. This craft is incredibly tactile and excellent for younger children who love getting their hands sticky with glue. By wrapping gauze or tissue paper around the jars, kids can create a textured, ancient mummy look that instantly comes to life once a small LED tea light is placed inside.

To begin, gather clean, empty glass jars of any size. Using a paintbrush, coat the exterior of the jar with a generous layer of school glue or Mod Podge. Wrap strips of white medical gauze, cheesecloth, or even white crepe paper around the jar, overlapping the layers to build texture while leaving small gaps for the light to shine through. Glue on two large, expressive googly eyes peeking out from between the bandages. Once dry, pop a battery-operated candle inside and watch your friendly mummy glow with a warm, comforting light on your windowsill or porch.
