4. The Log Cabin With a Stone Fireplace
Okay, this one is all about the fireplace. Build it big, right in the middle of the back wall, with stone bricks, a campfire, and a chimney that goes all the way through the roof.
Everything else stays rustic around it: stripped spruce walls, a plank floor, a rug made from red carpet, and stockings — red and green wool — hung along the mantel. When the fire’s lit and the snow’s falling outside, you won’t want to leave.
